Starting point: Braithwaite village
(NY 232237) Distance: 3.26 miles Ascent: 1413'
A walk that circumvents Barrow Gill. According to Wainwright, the ravine of Barrow Gill is deeper than Piers Gill on Lingmell! The ascent is by the northeast ridge of Barrow and the return is made crossing Stile End and descending the west bank of the gill. Route: From Braithwaite village the footpath passes through Braithwaite Lodge on to open fell. Climb the ridge to the bare summit of Barrow. Descend to Barrow Door before finding a thin path on to Stile End. From here descend by the ridge alongside Barrow Gill back to the starting point.
